GROUP CALLS FOR INTENSIFIED EFFORTS BY SECURITY AGENCIES AGAINST BANDITRY IN THE SOUTH EAST A group known as Indigenous advocacy forum has called on security agencies in the south east to intensify their efforts in flushing out bandits from the region. Speaking at a public function held recently in Owerri the Imo State Capital, the Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Ezekiel Nwobia appealed to security agencies to swiftly bring the activities of bandits in the South east to an end in order to avert further lose of lives and properties.
He recalled the situation in Orlu as a win over insecurity and enthronement of peace and normalcy while calling on all concerned to rally round the security agencies in the state in their concerted efforts to triumph over bandits. Mr. Nwobia agonized over the series of attacks carried out by these bandits in the South East which has left both civilians and Security men dead and recounted the recent scenario between the boundary of Imo and Anambra where these enemies of the state have succeeded in cutting off these two state by digging a big gully at one of the states boundaries.
He added that relevant stakeholders must at this perilous time shun from making politically induced comments over the state of insecurity and joins hands together with security men to make the zone a safe heaven where individuals go about their lawful businesses without any fear of intimidation or threat to their lives. Mr. Ezekiel Nwobia further appreciated the efforts of the state governments in their bid to get rid of bandits in the zone and encouraged them not to relent in the fight against insecurity which will propel peace that will lead to socio-economic developments in the zone.
