Attempts by the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) to manipulate the results of the March 18th State Assembly election in Ahaiazu mbaise has been resisted by other political parties including the ruling All progressive congress.
According to sources at the collation center, the PDP is working against the victory of the APC candidate, and despite a large margin of victory, they are refusing to concede defeat. The APC claims that the PDP is resorting to dirty tactics to try and alter the results in their favor or get tbe electoral umpire to declare the election inconclusive. A video circulating online shows a fight breaking out between members of the PDP, who are allegedly attempting to manipulate the vote. However, the APC has issued a statement urging the public to disregard the video, stating that the situation on the ground is different from what is being portrayed. "The video that is being circulated online is misleading and does not reflect the true situation at the collation center. The PDP guys are fighting seriously to manipulate the large margin victory which is not being possible for them, but the results declared so far is in our favour, just remaining few wards, the tension is high here but we are winning," the statement read. Despite the tension and allegations of manipulation, the APC remains confident of victory in the March 18th State Assembly election. As of now, the results declared so far are said to be in their favor, with just a few wards left to be counted.
