COALITION OF OKIGWE ZONE YOUTH AND WOMEN GROUP THROWS THEIR WEIGHT BEHIND RT. HON. PRINCESS MIRIAM ONUOHA, APPLAUDS HER FOR HER LEGACY REPRESENTATION OF OKIGWE NORTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY, AFFIRMS UNFLINCHING SUPPORT TO HER
The Coalition of Okigwe Zone Youth and Women Group, comprising dynamic, Youth leaders, women leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilizers from Okigwe, Onuimo, and Isiala Mbano Local Government Areas, convened an emergency meeting on friday 8th of August 2025 at Anara Isiala Mbano to address critical issues affecting the peace, stability, and progressive representation of Okigwe North Federal Constituency.
After a thorough deliberation on the current political climate, the Coalition hereby resolves as follows:
RESOLUTIONS:
1. That the Coalition notes with utter consternation and total disapproval the incessant, sponsored, and coordinated media attacks targeted at the personality of Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha (Nwanyi Wu Ihe), the esteemed Member representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
2. That the Coalition vehemently condemns these baseless attacks in the strongest possible terms, describing them as malicious propaganda, designed by retrogressive forces whose only agenda is to distract the lawmaker from her laudable service to the people.
3. That the Coalition expresses immense pride and satisfaction in the unprecedented achievements of Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha, whose representation has become a shining example of what effective, visionary, and people-oriented leadership should be. We commend her for:
The establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Okigwe, a historic feat that has put Okigwe Zone on the national healthcare map.
Facilitation of federal jobs for numerous youths of Okigwe North, given out based on merit and not as commodities for sale.
The Bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Isiala Mbano LGA, to address the acute shortage of trained healthcare professionals.
The Bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Horticulture, Okigwe LGA, aimed at revolutionizing the agricultural and economic landscape of the zone.
Attraction and execution of numerous road rehabilitation projects across the three LGAs, thereby improving connectivity and economic activities.
Provision of solar-powered streetlights and boreholes in communities, addressing the lingering issues of rural electrification and access to clean water.
Distribution of school desks, uniforms, footwear, and learning materials to countless school children, promoting educational access and reducing the burden on parents.
Renovation and rebuilding of abandoned and dilapidated schools, transforming them into conducive learning environments.
Ongoing youth and women empowerment schemes, capacity-building programs, and poverty-alleviation initiatives.
4. We challenge these disgruntled elements who are deliberately heating up the polity in Okigwe North Federal Constituency to point out any predecessor of Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha who has matched even a quarter of her remarkable achievements since her assumption of office. We dare them to face the facts and stop peddling falsehood.
5. That the Coalition wishes to make it unequivocally clear that the Zoning currently ongoing in Okigwe North should not be truncated, Nothing that Onuimo had their time from 1999 to 2007, Okigwe Had their time from 2007 to 2015, Isiala mbano time started in 2015 to 2023 which ended the first phase of representation in Okigwe North, in 2023, the second phase of the entrenched 8-year zoning arrangement of Okigwe North Federal Constituency, rightfully started with Isiala Mbano LGA, which will end in 2031.
6. The coalition Stated That any attempt to project a contrary zoning arrangement at this critical phase is nothing short of a desperate ploy to disrupt the peaceful, inclusive, and most effective rotational arrangement that has fostered unity and fairness among the three LGAs of Okigwe North.
7. That the Coalition wishes to remind all that Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha’s ranking status at the National Assembly is an invaluable asset to Okigwe North Federal Constituency.
8. We declare without ambiguity that we shall not fold our arms and watch selfish and self-centered individuals continue to perpetuate falsehood, blackmail, and spurious information against one of our very own, a woman who has redefined female leadership and made women of Okigwe Zone and Imo State proud in all ramifications.
9. That the Coalition firmly affirms our total, unwavering, and unflinching support for Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha (Nwanyi Wu Ihe). We call on well-meaning sons and daughters of Okigwe North to unite, rally behind her, and protect the legacy of transformational representation she has built, which remains the pride of our constituency.
10. That the Coalition calls on the sponsors of these divisive media attacks to desist immediately, as their actions only serve to expose their political bankruptcy and desperation. Progress, not propaganda, is what Okigwe North Federal Constituency deserves. God bless Okigwe North
