Hon. Eric Uwakwe, Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Youth Development and Chairman forum of Special Advisers and Senior special Assistant to Governors in Nigeria on Youth, has called on the United States to partner with Nigeria for effective peace and conflict resolution. Speaking at the 5th APRM Youth Symposium in the Pan-African Parliament at Midrand, South Africa, Uwakwe emphasized Nigeria's sovereignty, stating that any challenge to the country would be a threat to the entire African nation, especially considering Nigeria's crucial role in maintaining regional stability in Africa. As a sovereign nation, Nigeria's security and peace are vital to the entire African continent. Uwakwe's emphasis on this partnership highlights the need for international cooperation to address conflicts and promote peace in the region.



Uwakwe also stressed the significance of empowering Africa's youth, citing that they are the continent's greatest promise and potential. He emphasized that true prosperity encompasses dignity, justice, education, and a healthy planet and that Africa's youth must be recognized, supported, and empowered to lead.


He commended President Donald Trump for his concern about Nigeria's peace and thanked President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his wisdom in resolving conflicts. Uwakwe also called for collaboration across Africa and Europe, highlighting the importance of skills, solidarity, and visionary integration for Africa's youth.


The symposium, themed "Youth in Governance: From Promise to Prosperity," brought together African leaders, including H.E. Chief Fortune Charumbira, President of the Pan-African Parliament, Executive Mayor of Johannesburg Hon. Dada Morero, Hon. Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi, Minister for Public Service and Administration, Republic of South Africa, Hon. Laila Dahi, Chairperson of the PAP Youth Caucus and Member of Parliament from the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Vincent Angelin Meriton, Former Vice-President of the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre, CEO of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), and other leaders across Africa.
